Off by default because it is very useful only in particular situations like when you have perfectly flat areas finely tessellated. Like the quality threshold it affects the accuracy/complexity ratio. It can greatly improve the quality of the shape of the final triangles on perfectly planar portions of the mesh. It’s on by default.Īdd additional simplification constraints that try to preserve the current shape of the triangles. If disabled, the edges are collapsed onto one of the two vertices and the vertices of the final mesh are a subset of the original mesh. Exporting or importing meshes from Blender which have a high number of vertives (> 1 million) take ages to import or export. When collapsing an edge the chosen vertex position minimizes the current estimated error.

Optimal position of simplified vertices: Yes. The long list of many contributors to the MeshLab base code is well shown in the home page of the system. The value is in the range : 0 accept any kind of face (no penalties), 0.5 penalize faces with quality Normals, Curvature and Orientation > Re-Orient all faces coherently (note that this will only work for manifold objects). To approximate accurately the original shape only with well shaped triangles you require a higher number of faces with respect to allowing more freedom in the final triangle shape.

Anyway, thanks to your comment, I see why MeshLab cannot start. I'm happy if next version MeshLab does not crash but show messagebox like 'Your machine dose not have required features' and exit normally. Quality threshold affects the simplification penalizing bad shaped faces. I mistakenly believed that MeshLab can worke on older machine because it uses ANGLE version Qt. I got the method to fix them from this forum post. I thought the installation was taking forever, but it was because I didnt close Inventor first. The problem was that the origins of those meshes were far from their centers. msi file, remember to close Inventor first.

Anyways, for anyone that is installing the. The publisher, Rocky Zhang, even said he updated it for 2021 below.

Keep this below 1 million.Įnter a value between 0 and 1 here the higher the value the harder MeshLab tries to stick to your original model's shape. It works for 2021 Professional version for me.
